A two-game scoring binge resulted in WHL Player of the Week honours for Swift Current Broncos sniper Tyler Steenbergen.

The 19-year-old forward totaled six goals and three assists during two road wins last week. He opened the week with two goals and one assist during a 5-3 win over the Regina Pats on Sept. 27. The Sylvan Lake, AB native added four goals and one assist in a 7-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings Saturday.

The Broncos’ first round pick in the 2013 Bantam Draft tied for the WHL goal scoring lead last season with 51 goals in 72 games and then added eight goals in 14 playoff games. He was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the fifth round of the 2017 NHL Draft.

Steenbergen and the Broncos will host the Kootenay Ice for their home opener on Saturday.
