Southwest golfers compete at Future Links

Golfers from three different Southwest communities took part in the Future Links Prairie Championship at the Estevan Woodlawn Golf Club.

Shaunavon’s Hannah MacNeil was one of 12 female golfers at the Prairie Championship. She shot an 85 on day one and followed up with an 84 on day two. MacNeil concluded the tournament with an 87 on Thursday to place sixth.

Langley, BC’s Chaewon Baek won the tournament at 10-over with rounds of 71, 78, 77 to finish nine shots ahead of her next closest competitor.

Eastend’s Kirk Humphrey placed 28th out of 43 Junior Boys golfers. Humphrey opened the tournament with a six-over 78 on day one and then posted an 85 in round two. He carded an 82 in the final round to conclude the tournament at 29-over par.

Swift Current’s Griffin Wilson was right behind him in a tie for 29th place. Wilson opened the event on Tuesday with an 84 and then carded an 85 in round two. He concluded the tournament on a high note with a 77 on Thursday to finish 30-over.

Winnipeg’s Ryan McMillan won the tournament at five-under (71-72-68-211) to finish four shots ahead of Yorkton’s Kade Johnson.
