15U SunDogs win provincial title

After winning only once in their opening three matches, the Swift Current 15U Junior SunDogs girls volleyball team won their final three matches to win provincials in Saskatoon.

They had finished with a 1-2 record in the round robin with a win over HVC Green (25-21, 25-18), and losses to the Prince Albert Toppers En Fuego (14-25, 22-25), and the Oxbow Black Knights (20-25, 19-25).

They opened the playoffs with a quarter-final win over the Battleford Volleyball Club (25-19, 25-23) and then defeated the Regina Cougars Volleyball Club in the semi-final (25-15, 25-20).

The 15U SunDogs, coached by Liam Choo-Foo, Travis Kelln, and Shawn Hiebert, took on the Weyburn Rush in the championship match Sunday afternoon. They won the opening set 25-19 before losing the second set 8-25. The SunDogs won the third and deciding set 15-12 to clinch the provincial title.
