The Swift Current 15U Girls Junior SunDogs volleyball team won four of seven matches to bring home a silver medal from Sask Cup #3 in Warman over the weekend.
They had a tough start to the tournament with a 1-2 record in the round robin after losses to Prince Albert Toppers En Fuego (20-25, 13-25) and the Oxbow Black Knights (23-25, 16-25), while defeating the QCVC Royal Fusion in three sets (22-25, 25-17, 17-15).
The Junior SunDogs got things going Saturday evening with a crossover match victory over JCVC Elite (19-25, 25-15, 15-8).
They opened the playoffs Sunday with a win over Prince Albert in the quarter-finals (25-23, 25-17). The SunDogs added a win over Oxbow in the semi-final in three sets (18-25, 25-13, 15-12).
The 15U Junior SunDogs, coached by Liam Choo-Foo, Travis Kelln, and Shawn Hiebert, ran into the rival Weyburn Rush in the championship match, dropping the opener 22-25, rebounding for a 25-12 win, and then lost the third and deciding set 13-15.
