14U SunDogs earn Moose Jaw silver

The Swift Current 14U Girls Junior SunDogs Team Black volleyball team won their first five matches to place second at the Moose Jaw Element Tournament over the weekend.

They won all three round robin matches on Saturday with victories over the host Element (13-25, 25-10, 15-13), the QCVC Ghostbusters (15-25, 25-19, 17-15), and the QCVC Warriors (25-11, 25-23).

The 14U SunDogs defeated the SunDogs Yellow Team to open the playoffs (25-16, 25-19) and then won in three sets over the JCVC Black (17-25, 25-11, 15-7). They met the Moose Jaw Element again in the final and lost in three sets (17-25, 25-11, 17-19) to win silver.

In their previous tournament outing, the 14U Girls Junior SunDogs Team Black won five of seven matches to win bronze in Division 2 Tier 1 at Sask Cup #2 in Saskatoon.

They opened the weekend with three straight wins over the QCVC Eclipse (25-17, 25-13), the Outerlimits Fusion (25-15, 25-8), and Warman VC (25-20, 25-14). They concluded their opening day with a loss to the Prince Albert Toppers (22-25, 20-25).

The Junior SunDogs lost their opener on Sunday to the Lumsden Rage (17-25, 24-26) before bouncing back with victories over Weyburn (25-8, 14-25, 15-13) and the Estevan Extreme.
