The Swift Current Federal Innovation Credit Union Wildcats earned a valuable point on the road with a 5-4 overtime loss to the Saskatoon Stars on Thursday.
The Wildcats had led 3-2 in the third period before falling behind 4-3 and then scoring a late goal to force overtime. Danelle Steffen scored for the Stars 43 seconds into overtime.
Dior Stringer scored twice for the Wildcats, followed by singles from Kara Bergen and Stevie Christiaens. Charlize Hillmer assisted on two goals. Reese Kampen, Madden Rublee, and Raela Packet also had assists. Jordan Ottenbreit made 30 saves on 35 shots.
The Wildcats moved into third spot in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League with a 7-7-1-3 record. They will visit the fourth-place Regina Rebels for two games this weekend.
