The Swift Current Kabos Broncos are only one win away from a Saskatchewan Bantam AA Hockey League championship.

The Broncos scored all three goals in first period and then locked things down defensively to defeat the visiting Sask Valley Vipers 3-1 in game one of the best-of-three championship series.

Keagon Little, Joe Arntsen, and Reed Jacobson all scored for the Broncos. Ryan McCleary picked up a pair of assists, while Jacobson, Mac Gross, Little, and Levi Lamotte all added single helpers.

Josh Pillar scored the only goal for the Vipers to tie the game 1-1 before Arntsen scored on the power play and Jacobson added an insurance marker.

Jacob Herman earned his sixth win of the post-season with 30 saves for the Broncos. The Broncos chased Vipers’ starter Brodie Guenther from the game with their third goal after only 14:23. Matt Hennessey played the final 45:37 as the Broncos fired a total of 26 shots on goal.

Jacob Herman backstopped the Kabos Broncos to a 3-1 win March 15 to open the SBAAHL championship series.

Game two of the best-of-three series will be played Saturday in Warman. Game three, if necessary, would be Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.

Kaden Floberg (centre) had one of the Broncos best scoring chances during the second period.
