Broncos fall again to Pats

The Swift Current Broncos continue to search for a winning recipe against the Regina Pats this season. They lost 6-2 in Regina Wednesday to finish the season with a 1-7 record against the Western Hockey League leading Pats this season.

The Pats scored the first three goals of the game before Lane Pederson notched his 25th goal of the season early in the second period. The Pats scored the next three goals before Ryley Lindgren closed the scoring with a power play marker, his 26th goal of the season.

Taz Burman suffered the loss with 35 saves on 41 shots. Jordan Hollet picked up the win with 24 saves.

The Pats’ balanced attack featured goals from Sergey Zborovskiy, Nick Henry, Connor Hobbs, Filip Ahl, Dawson Leedahl, and Adam Brooks.

The Pats were two-for-four on the man-advantage, while the Broncos finished one-for-six on the power play.

The Broncos dropped to 38-22-4-6 to finish third in the East Division this season. Regina improved their league championship record to 50-12-7-1.

The Broncos have won eight of their past 10 games with the only two losses coming to the Pats, a potential second-round playoff opponent. The loss also ended the Broncos’ six-game road winning streak.

The Broncos are back at home Friday to open a home-and-away set against the Moose Jaw Warriors to conclude the regular season before the two teams meet in the opening round of the WHL playoffs.
