Six Southwest players selected in WHL Prospects Draft

A total of six members of the Swift Current Pure Chem U15 AA Broncos were selected in the 2024 WHL Prospects Draft on Thursday.

Swift Current’s Carter Moen was selected 17th overall by his hometown Broncos. He totalled 49 points in 26 games with the Swift Current U15 AA Broncos this season. The son of Stanley Cup champion Travis Moen added 14 points in 7 playoff games.

Lucky Lake’s Jake Hargrave was drafted 57th overall by the Kelowna Rockets. The versatile defenseman registered 37 points in 26 games with the Swift Current U15 AA Broncos this season.

Chaplin’s Kasey Gleim was drafted 108th overall by the Everett Silvertips. He led the Swift Current U15 AA Broncos this season with 31 goals and 60 points in 27 games. He also led the team with nine goals and 15 points in seven playoff outings.

Central Butte’s Hunter Wilm was drafted 114th overall by the Regina Pats. He compiled 43 points in 27 games with the Swift Current U15 AA Broncos this season.

Gull Lake’s Cade Mitchell was selected in the seventh round of the WHL Prospects Draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors.  He was 15-3 with a 2.38 goals against average and a .920 save percentage this season.

The Broncos drafted a second local when they selected Gull Lake’s Jamie Kirwan in the ninth round. He had 34 points in 27 regular season games with the U15 AA Broncos and added 12 points in seven playoff outings.
