Swift Current Broncos alumnus Joel Hofer will suit up for Canada once again on the world stage.

The St. Louis Blues goaltender was one of three netminders named to Canada’s 22-player roster for the upcoming IIHF Men’s World Hockey Championship in Czechia. Canada will open the tournament on May 11 against Great Britain.

Hofer was also a member of the 2023 gold medal world championship team when he posted a 1.46 goals against average and a .925 save percentage in two appearances.

The Winnipeg product finished with a 15-12-0-1 record with the Blues this season with a 2.65 GAA and a .914 save percentage, including his first NHL shutout.

Hofer led Canada to a World Junior Championship in 2020 when he was named the tournament’s Top Goaltender. He played parts of two seasons in Swift Current before being dealt to the Portland Winterhawks.
