A pair of Swift Current United Soccer Club teams won gold at the Sask Cup Futsal Provincial Championships in Saskatoon over the weekend.
The U16 Boys won gold with a win over Regina’s QC United on the championship game on Sunday afternoon.
They had opened the tournament with a 5-5 draw against Yorkton United FC and then lost 7-2 to QC United.
The U16 boys won both games on Saturday with a 5-4 victory over TDsoccer Futsal Academy and a 6-5 win over Excelsior FC. They advanced to the final with a 7-6 win over Yorkton on Sunday morning.
Griffin Striker was named the Most Valuable Player at the U16 Boys Sask Cup as well.
The U14 United Girls also won gold with three wins, one loss, and one draw. They defeated TDsoccer 3-2 and lost 4-3 to FCR Barcelona on Friday.
Saturday, the U14 girls tied QC United 3-3 and then won 5-1 over FCR Barcelona. They defeated TDsoccer 4-3 in the gold medal game on Sunday.
They also won the Fair Play Award.
The U14 United Boys advanced to the semi-finals at the Sask Cup. They dropped their opening game 5-3 to Excelsior FC and then lost 8-3 to QC United.
They rebounded on Saturday with a 6-4 win over another QC United team, but lost 8-3 in the semi-final to QC United.
