Swift Current will be the location of one of two Western Hockey League hosted games in the 2017 CIBC Canada Russia Series.
The Innovation Credit Union iPlex will host a game between a team of select WHL players and the Russian National Junior Team on November 7. The other WHL hosted game will be in Moose Jaw on Nov. 6.
The WHL will be the host league for the first two games of the six game exhibition series. The series then swings to Ontario for games in Owen Sound on Nov. 9 and Sudbury on Nov. 13. The exhibition games conclude in the QMJHL, with a Nov. 14 game in Charlottetown and a Nov. 16 finale in Moncton.

Swift Current previously hosted a Canada Russia Series game in 2008. During that November 26, 2008 game, Jordan Eberle scored twice and goaltender Chet Pickard had a 16 save shutout in a 5-0 win over the Russian Selects.
