Entertainment lineup unveiled for Frontier Days 2023

The Washboard Union, who made their debut on the Frontier Days stage back on 2017, will be back in Swift Current on Canada Day to headline a concert during Frontier Days 2023.

Juno award winning entertainers Washboard Union and Meghan Patrick will team up for an unforgettable night of music on Canada Day as a highlight of Frontier Days 2023 in Swift Current.

The “Steers & Cheers for 85 Years” themed Frontier Days runs from June 28 to July 1, with a single concert evening on July 1 sure to draw a capacity audience to the grandstand.

Meghan Patrick is a two-time Canadian Country Music Association Female Artist of the Year winner and Juno Award winner who exploded onto the Canadian country music scene in 2016.

Patrick’s debut album “Grace & Grit” earned her the CCMA’s 2017 Rising Star Award and the CCMA’s Female Artist of the Year. Her debut included the hits “Bow Chicka Wow Wow”.

Her follow up album “Country Music Made Me Do It”, earned her a second CCMA Female Artist of the Year award along with a 2019 Juno nomination for Country Album of the Year. Hits from that album include “The Bad Guy” and her chart topping hit “Walls Come Down”. She also received a 2019 Juno nomination as Breakthrough Artist of the Year. Patrick captured her first Juno Award in 2020 by bringing home the prestigious Country Album of the Year award for the six track EP “Wild As Me”.

She is currently touring in support of her third full length album “Heart On My Glass” which was nominated for a 2022 CCMA Award in the Album of the Year category along with her fifth nomination as CCMA Female Artist of the Year.

The nine time CCMA award winning The Washboard Union have been cranking out the hits over a three album career spanning back to their 2015 debut EP release “In My Bones”. In 2016 they were double Canadian Country Music Association award winners by earning the Roots Artist or Group of the Year, along with the 2016 Rising Star Award. They added a second CCMA Roots Artist or Group of the Year award in 2017. They continued hauling in the CCMA awards in 2018 by collecting Roots Artist or Group of the Year, plus the Group or Duo of the Year. In 2019 their album “What We’re Made Of” earned them the CCMA Roots Album of the Year award song with the Group or Duo of the Year. They added their third consecutive CCMA Group or Duo of the Year award in 2020, along with the album “Everbound” claiming the Roots Album of the Year award. Their impeccable harmonies also earned the group the 2019 Juno Award as Breakthrough Group of the Year, becoming the first country band to win that award category.

The trio of Aaron Grain, Chris Duncombe and David Roberts, who formed in 2010, are a mainstay on the country music charts with hits including “Country Thunder”, “Shut Er Down” and “Shot of Glory”. They also boast over 70 million streams of their songs on various digital platforms.

The grandstand will also feature two nights of racing action during the Frontier City Racing Invitational on Thursday, June 29 and Friday, June 30. The two nights of racing will feature racing in the Sprints, Modifieds, Streets, Hobbies and Mini Stock divisions.

Competitors from the Canadian Cowboys’ Association will be featured in rodeo action four times during Frontier Days. They will first be in action in the Magnus Newland Arena on Thursday, June 29 at 5 p.m. Rodeo action is also set for Friday, June 30 at 5 p.m., along with being in the arena twice on Saturday, July 1 (a slack performance at 9 a.m., and the final featured rodeo at 2 p.m.).
