The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires won two of three games in the Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League this week.
Wednesday, the Legionnaires were edged 3-2 by the host Moose Jaw Warriors. Hudson Darby had a goal and an assist in the loss. Cobe Perlinger also scored, while Cam Perlinger and Jace Egland added assists. Berney Weston took the loss with 31 saves on 34 shots.
Connor Miller, Jake Briltz, and Liam Fitzpatrick scored for the Warriors. Ryan Bain made 21 saves in the win.
Saturday, the Legionnaires won 5-4 in overtime after the host Battlefords Stars had scored twice to force the extra frame.
Eric Hoiness scored his second goal of the game with only 23 seconds remaining to seal the win. Egland and Rylan Williams both added a goal and an assist. Campbell Pinsonneault also scored. Brendan Quinn-Lagria, Kai Packet, Cam Perlinger, and Cobe Perlinger also added assists. Jacob Morris made 43 saves in the win.
Treycen Wuttunee scored twice for the home team, followed by singles from Rylen LeRoux and Jesse Borschneck.
Matthew Ofukany took the loss with 28 saves on 33 shots.
Sunday, the Legionnaires scored four straight goals in the second period to defeat the Stars 6-3. Egland notched a hat trick and Kade Stringer had three assists. Williams added a goal and an assist, while Pinsonneault and Darby each had two-assist outings.
Jett Lamb and Cobe Perlinger also scored. Cam Perlinger, Keelan Mansuy, Wesley Olson, and Zach Reeder all added assists.
Weston made 32 saves to improve to 18-5-0-2 on the campaign.
Wuttunee, Borschneck, and Trey Penrod replied for the Stars. Brady Carr took the loss with 35 saves.
The Legionnaires remain third in the league with a 23-10-0-3 record. Battlefords are last at 8-23-0-3.
The Legionnaires will host the fifth-place Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday.
