The Swift Current Broncos upset the Central Division leading Red Deer Rebels with a 4-1 road win on Saturday to enter the holiday break on a two-game winning streak.
The Broncos got goals from four different skaters for a second road win in as many days.
Owen Pickering, Brady Birnie, and Luke Mistelbacher all scored in the first period for the Broncos. Raphael Pelletier scored into an empty net in the final minute to seal the win. Carson Birnie replied with the lone goal for the Rebels.
Gage Alexander made 31 saves to lead the Broncos to the victory. Kyle Kelsey took the loss with 22 saves.
The Broncos killed off all four shorthanded situations, including a five-minute kneeing major assessed to Josh Davies midway through the third period.
The Broncos moved into ninth spot with the back-to-back road wins with a 14-15-0-1 record. The Rebels lead the Central Division with a 22-6-1-3 record.
The Broncos will return to action on Dec. 28 when they visit the Medicine Hat Tigers.
