Swift Current rink splits day two at Mixed Curling Nationals

The Swift Current rink representing Saskatchewan at the 2022 Canadian Mixed Curling Championship split a pair of games on Monday in Prince Albert.

The rink skipped by Cabri’s Shaun Meachem lost 8-2 to Quebec and defeated Yukon 7-2 to move to 2-1 at Nationals.

Quebec opened the game with two points and then stole one to lead 3-0. Saskatchewan answered with one point in the third end, but Quebec scored three in the fourth end and stole one in the fifth end to take a commanding 7-2 lead.

Saskatchewan fell behind against the Yukon early but replied with two points in the second end and then steals of two, one, and one to put the game out of reach.

Meachem is joined by third Kelly Schafer, second Chris Haichert, and lead Teejay Haichert.

They face Nunavut (1-2) in their only game on Tuesday. Saskatchewan will conclude the round robin on Wednesday against New Brunswick and British Columbia.
