The Swift Current U13 AA SWT Broncos won five of six games at a 32-team tournament in Calgary over the Thanksgiving weekend.
The Broncos opened the tournament with a 3-1 win over the Fort McMurray Junior Oil Barons and followed up with a 6-2 victory over the Calgary Buffalo Wranglers. They suffered their only loss to the Calgary Royals Blue by a 3-2 margin to place second in their pool.
The Broncos won three straight games to top the B Division, beginning with a 6-1 win over Grand Prairie. They added a 9-1 win over Calgary Royals White and a 4-1 victory over the Calgary NWCAA Stamps.
Forward Taye Silbernagel and defenseman Alex Erickson were named to the tournament’s Second All-Star Team.
The defending provincial champions will open the regular season on Friday when they visit the Regina Royals.
