Broncos shutout in Edmonton

The Swift Current Broncos allowed six goals in the second period in a 7-0 loss to the host Edmonton Oil Kings on Saturday.

Reid Dyck took the loss as the Broncos were out-shot 50-11. Sebastian Cossa earned the shutout for the Oil Kings, the 11th shutout of his WHL career.

Carter Souch scored twice, while Jake Neighbours, Jakub Demek, Brendan Kuny, Kaiden Guhle, and Cole Miller also scored.

Edmonton improved to 28-10-2-1, while the Broncos fell to 14-21-4-1 with their third straight loss.

The Broncos will visit the Calgary Hitmen on Sunday for their third game in as many days.

Bronco Bits: Maddix McCagherty made his WHL debut on Saturday. The 2021 second-round pick has nine goals and 16 assists with the Rink Hockey Academy Kelowna U18 team in the CSSHL this season.
