Broncos win fourth straight

The Swift Current Broncos won their fourth straight game with a 4-1 win over the host Red Deer Rebels Friday. Tyler Steenbergen continued his torrid scoring pace with a hat trick against his hometown team for his third multiple-goal performance in the past four games.

Steenbergen scored the only goal of the first period with an unassisted goal, his 41st of the season to extend a four-game goal streak.

Glenn Gawdin notched his 19th goal of the season midway through the second period to stretch the lead to 2-0 heading in to the third period.

Lane Zablocki cut the lead in half midway through the third period, but Steenbergen replied only 27 seconds later before adding an empty net goal, his 43rd goal of the season to lead all Western Hockey League skaters.

Taz Burman got the win with 26 saves to improve to 12-10-3-0. Lasse Peterson made 28 saves in a losing effort to fall to 12-13-4-0.

The Broncos improved to 29-17-3-5, while Red Deer dropped to 23-24-5-3.

The Broncos will conclude their three-game Alberta road swing on Saturday against the Calgary Hitmen.
