Ardens place fourth at Provincials

The Swift Current Comp. Ardens placed fourth at 5A Girls Soccer Provincials in Prince Albert over the weekend.

The Ardens won their opening match on Friday when they edged the host Prince Albert Carlton Crusaders 2-1. After falling behind midway through the opening half, Jaycee Berggren found the back of the net on a perfect pass from Tenille Willows. The Ardens notched the deciding goal when Berggren sent rookie Dani Meyers in for a breakaway goal in the second half. Emma Moen earned the win in goal.

The Ardens suffered their first loss of the season in the semi-final when they fell 3-0 to Saskatoon Holy Cross, who would go on to win gold.

The Ardens dropped the bronze medal match 2-1 to Warman on a late goal. They had allowed the opening goal before Berggren scored on a breakaway with an assist from Olivia Koebel.

The Ardens finished the season with a 10-2 record after winning a 12th straight Moose Jaw League title and a Regional Championship as well. They will graduate five players with 11 eligible to return.
