The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires won two of three games in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League this week.
The Legionnaires returned to the win column with a 3-2 victory over the host Moose Jaw Warriors on Tuesday.
Matt Ripplinger scored the game-winning goal in the third period during a two-point outing. Noah Mitchell also finished with a goal and an assist, while Eric Hoiness chipped in a pair of assists. Carter Herman also scored as Mitchell Czemeres and Brendan Quinn-Lagria added assists. Colby Watson made 33 saves to earn the win.
Wyatt Lacoste and Rowan Calvert replied for the Warriors, who got 26 saves from Ryan Bain in the loss.
Saturday, the Legionnaires won their second straight game as they upended the visiting Saskatoon Blazers 3-2. Carter Cormier led the Legionnaires with a goal and an assist, including the game winner with only 1:05 remaining in regulation. Rowan Martin-Bryk and Mitchell also scored. Herman and Bryant Linklater added assists. Watson earned the win with 31 saves.
Josh Knittig and Trae Wilke replied for the Blazers, who lost for the first time in six outings this season.
Sunday, the Blazers scored three goals in opening nine minutes to hand the Legionnaires a 4-2 loss. Hudson Darby and Herman scored in a losing cause. Herman, Linklater, and Czemeres picked up assists. Watson took the loss with 30 saves.
Josh Zakreski scored twice for the Blazers, while Wilke and Tyson Yaremko also tallied. Alex Garrett picked up the win with 20 saves.
The Legionnaires finished the weekend with a 3-2 record, while the Blazers fell to 6-1.
The Legionnaires will continue a lengthy home stand next weekend when they host the Battlefords Stars on Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 1:45 p.m.
