The Swift Current U14 Sonic swept the Moose Jaw Ice in a doubleheader Thursday night at the Optimist Diamonds in Moose Jaw.
The Sonic took the first game of the double header 15-4. Starting pitcher Abbey Arntsen pitched three solid innings giving up only two runs against, while the Sonic offense put up nine runs in their first three at bats. Bree Pavely came in to pitch the fourth and fifth innings, giving up two runs in relief. The Sonic offense was ignited by some aggressive base running causing the Ice to make a few errors.
In the 8 o’clock game under the lights, the Sonic offense came alive early to score 14 runs in the first two innings leading to a 14-6 lead. Leading the way offensively for the Sonic was Brynn Watts, Riley Gramlich, Vagas Appel, and Sami Wandler, helping the Sonic come away with a 22-7 win. Starting pitcher Brynn Watts and reliever Bree Pavely combined for the win on the mound.
The Sonic now have a record of 12-3 as they head into their final week of preparation for the Softball Saskatchewan Tournament in Regina August 6-8.
Next action for the Sonic is Wednesday, August 4 when they host the Gravelbourg Lightning at the Swift Current Recreation Complex.
