Reed Jacobson continued his academic success while making the transition to the Western Hockey League this season.

The rookie forward won the Spokane Chiefs 2019-20 Scholastic Player of the Year Award. While studying anatomy, chemistry, pre-calculus, and english, he finished with an average of over 99 percent in the first semester.

The Swift Current product finished his rookie season with four goals, seven assists, and a plus-nine rating in 50 games with the Chiefs.

His academic success should come as no surprise, he won the Swift Current Midget AAA Legionnaires Scholastic Award in 2019 with a 98.25 average as a grade 11 and was a co-recipient of the award in 2018.

The Chiefs, led by former Swift Current Broncos coach Manny Viveiros, had the fourth best winning percentage in the Western Hockey League with a 41-18-4-1 record when the season was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
