The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires lost their opening game at the Mac’s AAA Midget World Invitational Tournament on Boxing Day.
Brandon Von Hagen scored the opening goal before the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers netted the final three goals to defeat the Legions 3-1.
Quinn Strang and Rhett Evjen picked up assists for the Legionnaires. Jacob Herman took the loss with 34 saves on 36 shots.
Ashton McNelly, Logan Radmanovich, and Matt Smith, into an empty net, scored for the Rangers. Gabriel Gratton earned the win with 31 saves.
Fort Saskatchewan connected once on eight power plays, while the Legionnaires were unable to score on six man-advantages.
The Legionnaires will continue the round robin on Friday morning against the Lloydminster Bobcats. They also face the Okanagan Rockets on Saturday and the Okotoks Oilers on Monday.
