The Swift Current Diamond Energy Wildcats’ top line accounted for all four goals in a season opening win on Saturday.
Brooklyn Rublee, Sara Kendall, and Baylee Kirwan combined for eight points in a 4-1 win over the Battleford Sharks to open the Saskatchewan Female Midget AAA Hockey League regular season. Rublee scored twice, Kendall added a goal and an assist, while Kirwan had a goal and three assists in her hometown rink at the Gull Lake Arena. Maddy McCleary added an assist for the Wildcats.
Amaya Giraudier made 12 saves in the win. Haylie Biever took the loss with 30 saves. Lacey Schneider scored in a losing cause.
The Wildcats finished one-for-six on the power play and killed off all six shorthanded situations.
The Wildcats will host the Saskatoon Stars for two games next weekend.
