The final Southwest athlete will debut on day nine of the 2019 Western Canada Summer Games when Swift Current’s Kalea Sauder competes in the women’s Heptathlon on Saturday.
Sauder will open her Games in the 100 Metre Hurdles at 9:50 a.m. at the Swift Current Comprehensive High School. She will also compete in the High Jump at 10:25 a.m., the Shot Put at 11:45 a.m., and the 200 Metre Dash at 3 p.m.
Swift Current’s Hunter Berg will look to win a third medal in the 100 Metre Para Final at 11:20 a.m. He won silver in the 200 Metres on Friday after winning silver in the 400 on Thursday.
Madison Lawrence placed fourth in the 200 Metre Para Sport Race in 1:05.07 on Friday. She will take part in the 100 Metres on Saturday at 11 a.m.
Swift Current’s Scott Joseph will look to follow up on his two-medal day on Thursday when he competes in the 200 Metres on Saturday morning at 10:20 a.m. The Final will take place at 2:45 p.m. He will also take part in the Long Jump at 11 a.m.
Swift Current’s Luke Nelson will continue to wrestle in the team event on Saturday against Manitoba at 11 a.m. and Alberta at 6 p.m.
Nelson won his only match on Friday when he defeated Nunavut’s Roy Goose 10-0 in a 76 KG match to open the team event. Saskatchewan won both team events on Friday over Nunavut and Yukon Territory.
Swift Current’s Abby Sauder and Avery Tonnies and Saskatchewan will open the Female Indoor Volleyball playoffs on Saturday in the semi-final against Manitoba at 3 p.m.
Saskatchewan placed third in the round robin with a 3-2 record after a win over Nunavut (25-19, 25-18, 25-20) and a loss to Alberta (20-25, 17-25, 17-25) on Friday.
Shaye Wall will return to Male Indoor Volleyball action in the playoffs at 3 p.m. against Manitoba in the semi-final.
The Saskatchewan men also placed third in the round robin with a 3-2 record after Friday’s win over Nunavut (25-10, 25-19, 25-14) and a hard-fought four-set loss to Alberta (23-25, 21-25, 25-15, 21-25).
Kelsey Rokochy, Dawson Schultz, and Ethan Murdoch saw their Games come to an end in Baseball on Friday with an 11-4 win over Alberta and a 6-5 loss to Manitoba to win bronze with a 1-5 record.
Swift Current’s Neil Hogg and Harv Martinez were coaches with Saskatchewan as well.
