After 10 seasons with the Ottawa Senators, Zack Smith was traded from the only National Hockey League team he has ever played for.

The Maple Creek native was traded to the Chicago Blackhawks on Wednesday in a move that brought forward Artem Anisimov back to the Senators. Smith was the longest serving member of the Senators since being drafted 79th overall in the 2008 NHL Draft.

The 6’2’’ forward had made a name for himself with the Swift Current Broncos in the Western Hockey League from 2004-08.

Smith registered 28 points and 81 penalty minutes in 70 games with the Senators last season. He concludes his tenure in Ottawa with 193 points in 612 regular season games. He also had nine points in 45 playoffs contests.

Smith, 31, has two years left in his contract as he joins the Blackhawks.
