Swift Current’s Dylan Mortensen helped Canada’s men’s volleyball team to a third and final win at the 30th Summer Universiade in Italy on Saturday.
Canada defeated Brazil in five sets (25-16, 23-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-9) on Saturday to conclude the tournament on a winning note.
Mortensen, a 6’7’’ outside hitter from the University of Saskatchewan Huskies, led Canada with 18 kills and five blocks.
Canada had finished with a 1-3 record in the round robin before defeating the Ukraine and losing to the Republic of Korea to open the consolation playoffs.
Mortensen led Canada with 70 kills during the tournament and also with 14 blocks for kills. He was also tied for second with six service aces over the seven matches.
Canada finished 11th out of 20 teams at the tournament, which was won by the host Italian team.
