A pair of former Swift Current Comp. Colts are currently representing Canada at the Pan American Cup in Colima, Mexico.
Both Dylan Mortensen and Braedon Friesen are suiting up for Canada at the 12-team volleyball tournament with the National Men’s B Team.
Canada finished the round robin with a 1-2 record.
They opened the tournament with a three-set win over Suriname (25-14, 25-19, 25-16) on Sunday. Friesen played in the second and third sets and contributed nine points to lead all players in the match. Mortensen played in the third set for Canada.
They fell in straight sets on Monday to Cuba (19-25, 20-25, 19-25). Friesen saw action in the second and third sets and finished with three points.
Canada completed the round robin with a three-set loss to Argentina (17-25, 22-25, 21-25) on Tuesday. Friesen came on as a substitute in the third set and finished with three points.
Canada defeated the Dominican Republic on Wednesday in straight sets (25-14, 25-22, 25-14).
Canada will face Peru on Thursday for seventh place.
Mortensen will enter his third season with the University of Saskatchewan Huskies next fall, while Friesen will enter his sophomore season with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
