Former Swift Current Broncos netminder Jordan Papirny will get a look at some of the top junior hockey players in the country next week.
The University of Calgary Dinos goaltender was named to the U SPORTS men’s hockey all-stars on Tuesday. The all-star team will face Hockey Canada’s World Junior Prospects in Victoria for a three-game series from Dec. 12-14.
Papirny currently has a 5-2-0-1 record with a 2.73 goals against average and an 0.889 save percentage with the Dinos during his second season of university hockey.
Papirny joined the Broncos at the 2016-17 WHL trade deadline from the Brandon Wheat Kings. The Edmonton native appeared in 17 regular season contests and then backstopped the Broncos during 14 post-season games as they defeated the Moose Jaw Warriors in seven games before being eliminated by the Regina Pats in seven games. He finished the 2017 post-season with a 2.48 GAA and 0.935 save percentage.
