The Swift Current 57’s took advantage of seven errors to defeat the host Yorkton Cardinals 5-4 on Thursday.
The 57’s took a 2-0 lead in the third inning when Anthony Stewart singled home Dauson Tate and Will Baker scored on a wild pitch.
The 57’s added two runs in the fourth inning when Bo McClintock and Tate both scored on errors.
Yorkton came back with two runs in the fourth and two more in the sixth to tie the game 4-4.
The 57’s regained the lead in the seventh inning when Tyler Wojciechowski singled home Ethan Hunter for the winning run.
Carter Buuck allowed seven hits, one walk, and two runs while striking out four over five innings in the start.
Nick Hooper pitched 2.1 innings of hitless relief to earn the win and then Mitch Guiberson got the save with a scoreless ninth inning.
Swift Current improved to 2-5, while Yorkton fell to 0-5.
The two teams will rematch on Friday in Yorkton.
