The Swift Current Broncos played an exceptional hockey game for over 100 minutes but lost 3-2 in triple overtime to the visiting Moose Jaw Warriors on Saturday. The Warriors tied the best-of-seven Eastern Conference semi-final at three games apiece to force a seventh and deciding game back in Moose Jaw.
The Broncos led 2-0 in the third period before Moose Jaw stormed back with three unanswered goals, including a power play goal from Jayden Halbgewachs 1:14 into the third overtime period. Brody Willms picked up the win with 58 saves for the Warriors.
The Broncos came out out flying in the first period with a 12-4 advantage on the shot clock but nothing to show for it. They were almost as dominant in the second period with a 16-5 advantage and got on the board with 6:17 left in the middle frame when Matteo Gennaro tipped home a Artyom Minulin slap pass on the power play for his seventh goal of the season.
The Broncos stretched their lead to 2-0 early in the their period when Glenn Gawdin won a puck on the forecheck and centered to Tyler Steenbergen who fired a goal up high, his ninth of the post-season. Jett Woo got the Warriors within a goal when he fired home a screened point shot.
The Warriors tied the game with 8:42 left on the clock when Clague fired a point shot off Brett Howden and in. The play was initially called no goal but the replay officials confirmed that the net was still on the pegs.
Stuart Skinner took the loss with 35 saves on 38 shots for the Broncos.

Game seven will be Monday in Moose Jaw with the winner to face the Lethbridge Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference final.
