Swift Current’s Tanner Fritzke helped Team Saskatchewan reach the semi-finals at the Baseball Canada U21 National Championships in Ottawa.
Saskatchewan scored twice in the final inning to defeat New Brunswick 3-2 in the quarter-final Saturday evening.
Fritzke made the start and allowed only four hits and two runs with one strikeout over four innings in his second appearance of the tournament. Fritzke threw 34 of his 57 pitches for strikes to keep his team in the ballgame. Brandon Hutt pitched the final three innings to earn the win.
Saskatchewan will face Windsor in the semi-final on Sunday afternoon.
