The Swift Current 16U Female Junior SunDogs won five of six matches to place third at the Moose Jaw Element Tournament over the weekend.
They placed first in their pool with wins over the Yorkton Blitz Invasion (25-11, 26-24), the QCVC Voltage (26-24, 25-11), and the host Moose Jaw Element Panthers (23-25, 25-13, 15-5) on Saturday.
The 16U SunDogs, coached by Tiffany Powell and Berkley Petersen, opened the playoffs Sunday with a win over the Moose Jaw Element Panthers 15U (25-17, 25-21). They suffered their first loss in the semi-final when they lost 21-25 and 23-25 to the QCVC Royals.
The Junior SunDogs rebounded in the bronze medal match after losing the first set 22-25 to edge the QCVC Eclipse 26-24 and 15-10.
