Jake Hiromoto’s record-breaking season has been rewarded by the Western Canadian Baseball League.
The home run swatting Hawaiian was named the league’s Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year after setting all-time WCBL records with 22 home runs and 77 runs batted in.
He also led the WCBL with a 1.227 OPS and 89 hits in 56 games this season in Swift Current. Hiromoto finished the season with a .394 average, 65 runs scored, 17 doubles, and 11 stolen bases.
The 57’s third baseman received 17 first place votes on 22 ballots in each category in recognition of his outstanding season.
Swift Current’s Ethan Murdoch capped his WCBL career with hardware as well when he was named the 2026 Most Outstanding Canadian.
Murdoch helped the Saskatoon Berries win the league title with a .358 batting average, .435 on-base percentange and a 1.069 OPS.
He also was among the league leaders with 82 hits, 17 doubles, 14 home runs, 62 RBI, and 36 walks in 55 games.
