A pair of Southwest cowboys won events at the Cypress Showdown in Maple Creek on August 29-30.
Consul’s Braden Brost won Tie Down Roping in Maple Creek in 12.0 seconds for $796.
Maple Creek’s Zack Moorhead won Junior Steer Riding with 73.5 points to earn $405. Maple Creek’s Coy Cronkhite was second with 70 points for $303. Maple Creek’s Paden Robertson tied for fourth with 68 points for $50.
Brost and Morse’s Tuftin McLeod were second in Team Roping in 6.1 seconds for $1,317. Maple Creek’s Dillan Kraft and Bayne Wilson were fourth in 6.6 seconds for $768. Waldeck’s Scott McLeod and Kyle’s Chad Feil were fith in 7.1 seconds for $494. Eastend’s Tygh Armstrong and Consul’s Will Blakley finished sixth in 12.4 seconds for $274.
Maple Creek’s Dayton Cronkhite finished second in Novice Saddle Bronc with 61.5 points for $251. Tom Durkin (Cypress County, AB) won the event with a 65-point ride.
Stewart Valley’s Austynn Knudsen finished third in Ladies Barrel Racing in 17.33 seconds for $166. Hazenmore’s Tess Switzer was fourth in 17.79 seconds for $83. Levi Cote (Yellow Grass) won the event in 17.22 seconds.
Eastend’s Tiara Armstrong finished third in Ladies Breakaway Roping in 4.7 seconds for $624. Swift Current’s Madison Kovar was fourth in 4.9 seconds for $459. Eastend’s Lexy Armstrong was sixth in 5.2 seconds for $164. Lacey Jordison (Moose Jaw) won the event in 3.0 seconds.
Beechy’s Allee Kapeller was fifth in Ladies Barrel Racing in 17.41 seconds for $279. Juna Smith (Minburn, AB) won the event in 17.07 seconds.
There are four CCA events this weekend, two in Alberta and two in Manitoba.
