The Swift Current Riverside Electric 57’s represented Saskatchewan at the 13U AAA 2026 Western Canada Baseball Championship in Ile des Chenes, MB on August 14-16.
Friday, the 57’s lost both games to open the eight-team tournament. They dropped the first game 13-9 to the Brandon Marlins. They fell behind 1-0 in the fourth inning, but fought back with two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the fifth inning. They trailed 13-4 in the final inning before scoring five runs to make a game of it.
Shortstop Casey Kerpan led the offensive efforts with three doubles and four runs batted in. Avery Christianson added three singles, two runs scored, and two RBI’s. Jayce Kantrud singled twice, stole a base, and scored. Hunter Haubrich singled, doubled, scored twice, and knocked one run in.
The 13U AAA 57’s dropped the second game 21-4 to the Cloverdale Rangers. Christianson singled, stole two bases, and scored. Carter Speir singled, stole two bases, scored, and knocked one run home. Kolton Kozun singled and had two RBI’s. Colton Froehlich singled twice as the 57’s were held to six hits and one walk.
Sunday, the 57’s lost 14-2 to the YQL Sluggers. Speir led the 57’s with two hits, two stolen bases, and a run scored. Christianson singled and scored. Froehlich singled, stole a base, and knocked home two runs.
Their season came to an end in an 8-4 loss to the Carillon Sultans. Kerpan singled, walked, stole two bases, and knocked home one run. Christianson doubled and scored. Speir doubled, scored, and knocked home one run. Kozun singled, stole a base, and knocked one run in. Luke Feiffer singled and scored. Rudy Giesbrecht singled and walked.
