Southwest golfers compete at MJT Saskatchewan events

The Maple League Junior Golf Tour held a pair of Saskatchewan events in June, beginning at the Humboldt Golf Club on June 13-14.

Swift Current’s Hailey Bollinger placed fourth in the 15-19 Girls Division. She opened the tournament with an 87 and then carded a 96 on day two. Arwen Mosher (Saskatoon) won the division by two strokes with rounds of 83 and 85.

Swift Current’s Jace Munro finished 12th in the Bantam Boys Division. He shot a 95 on day one and then improved all the way to an 83 on day two. Cooper Roberge (Lloydminster) won the division by one shot with rounds of 79 and 71.

Swift Current’s Max Gehl tied for 16th in the Juvenile Boys Division. He had rounds of 86 and 87 in Humboldt. Swift Current’s Rhyker McMorris tied for 19th with rounds of 89 and 85. Jace Olson (Humboldt) won the division by two strokes with rounds of 76 and 75.

Herbert’s Jameson Fox was the lone golfer in the Mini Tour event. He tied for seventh in the Boys 9-10 Division with a 98. Jozef Sierzycki (Prince Albert) won the division by two strokes with an 87.

The MJT made another Saskatchewan stop in Regina the Tor Hill Golf Course on June 27-28.

Munro tied for second in the 22-man field of the Bantam Boys Division. He opened the event with a 77 and followed up with an 80 on Sunday to finish just seven shots behind the leader. Jun Lee (Regina) won the event at home with a 72 and a 78. Swift Current’s Zac Weinbender finished 20th with rounds of 113 and 98. Maple Creek’s Lachlan Williams carded a 105 in the opening round before withdrawing.

Gehl placed fourth in the Juvenile Boys Division out of 39 golfers. He opened with an 80 and improved to a 76 on day two. McMorris placed 31st with a 104 and a 76. Olson (won the division in a playoff after carding rounds of 72 and 78.

Swift Current’s Paisley Hansen finished seventh in the U15 Girls Division in Regina with rounds of 128 and 120. Alyxa Melsted (Wynard) won the event by 13 strokes with rounds of 88 and 80.

Swift Current’s Kayden Meyer also placed seventh in the 15-19 Girls Division with rounds of 93 and 92. Yuna Lee (Regina) won the division by three strokes with rounds of 78 and 79.

A Mini Tour event was also held on June 26 at the Joanne Goulet Golf Course in Regina. Fox tied for second in the Boys 9-10 Division with a 78, seven shots back of the winner, Jerry King Zhao (Regina).

Consul’s Sammie Seifert placed third in the Boys 11-12 Division with a 74. Caleb O’Brien (Melville) won the division by three strokes with an even-par 64.

The MJT will be back in Saskatoon on July 27-28.
