On May 15, 2026, Swift Current Municipal RCMP’s General Investigation Section obtained and executed a search warrant at a residence on Prairie Sun Court in Swift Current.
During the search of the residence, officers located and seized approximately 227 grams of methamphetamine, 662 grams of dried cannabis, a sum of cash, drug trafficking paraphernalia, a stun baton, and several imitation firearms.
Two individuals were arrested at the residence.
As a result of the investigation, 35-year-old Travis Lee Smith from Swift Current has been charged with:
- one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
- one count, possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, Section 354(1)(a), Criminal Code
- one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
- one count, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, Section 95(1), Criminal Code;
- two counts, possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, Section 88(1), Criminal Code. (Information #90542532)
Smith appeared in Swift Current Provincial Court and was remanded into custody until his next appearance on May 22.
The other individual arrested was released without charge.
Swift Current Rural RCMP, as well as Saskatchewan RCMP’s Saskatchewan Enforcement Response Teams, Critical Incident Response Team and Police Dog Services assisted in the execution of the search warrants.
