The host Swift Current Broncos were unable to defeat the Saskatoon Blades for a second straight night when they lost 4-2 on Saturday.
The Broncos struck first when Carter Moen scored on their first shot only 38 seconds into the game. The Blades replied quickly with a Jordan Martin goal and then took the lead with a Cooper Williams goal midway through the period. The Broncos tied the game late in the period with a breakaway goal from captain Hudson Darby as he deked to his backhand for his 19th goal of the season.
The Blades closed out the game with third-period goals from Ben Bowtell and Tyler Parr.
Archer Cooke took the loss with 34 saves to fall to 3-11-3-3
Taye Timmerman made 11 saves to win his WHL debut for the Blades.
The Broncos fell to 14-43–4-5, while Saskatoon improved to 32-25-5-2 to remain sixth in the Eastern Conference.
The Broncos will conclude the season next weekend with two games against the Moose Jaw Warriors, beginning on Friday in Swift Current.
