Swift Current Broncos rookie goaltender Aiden Eskit made 40 saves to defeat his brother, Ethan, and the Victoria Royals.
Aiden Eskit earned his first Western Hockey League victory in a 7-3 win on Saturday when the Broncos scored four unanswered goals in the third period.
Victoria jumped out to the lead with a Hayden Moore goal 8:23 into regulation. They doubled the lead with a power play goal from Heath Nelson 5:20 later. The Broncos cut the lead in half when captain Hudson Darby kept the puck on a two-on-one and scored his 10th goal of the season.
Sawyer Dingman tied the game midway through the second period when he held off a check and one-handed a rebound into the top corner for his ninth goal of the season. The Royals responded with a power play goal on a deflection from Nolan Stewart. The Broncos tied the game again with a power play goal from Jaxen Gauchier in the final minute of the second period.
The Broncos took their first lead 3:08 into the third period with a Jace McFaul power play goal. Dingman added an insurance goal and Anthony Wilson scored into an empty net with 1:56 remainin. Brendan Rudolph punctuated the victory with a penalty shot goal in the final minute.
Ethan Eskit took the loss, while also making 40 saves as Victoria fell to 19-18-5-3.
The Broncos improved to 11-31-3-0. They will continue a seven-game home stand next Friday when they host the Regina Pats.
