The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires gave the league-leading Regina Pat Canadians all they could handle on Thursday.
The Legionnaires fought back from a two-goal deficit in a 3-2 overtime loss to the visiting Pat Canadians. Maddox Schultz ended the game with a power play goal 36 seconds into the extra frame, his 23rd goal of the season.
Regina jumped ahead with first-period goals from Brady Vipond and Liam Pue. The Legionnaires got goals from Mason Fauser and Porter Nickason in the third period with assists from Trae Peterson, Kasey Gleim, and Carter Schmidt.
Cade Mitchell made 21 saves for the Legionnaires. Adam Muntain stopped 35 of 37 shots for the Pat Canadians.
Regina improved to 30-2-2-0, while Swift Current fell to 19-10-4-0 to remain fourth in the Saskatchewan Male U18 AAA Hockey League.
The Legionnaires will visit the Notre Dame Hounds on Tuesday.
