The Swift Current Comp. Junior Colts Red won once in three attempts at the Aden Bowman Classic Junior Basketball Tournament in Saskatoon over the weekend.
They lost their opener 64-54 to Regina’s Miller Marauders. They held a lead in the second quarter, but a trio of corner three in the fourth quarter pushed the Marauders ahead. AJ Peters led the Colts with 11 points, followed by nine from Jack Thomson.
The Colts got off to a slow start in their second game and lost 70-46 to Regina’s Campbell Tartans. Reuben Kimball scored 10 points, while Santiago Mejia Castillo added eight points.
The Junior Colts wrapped up the tournament with an 85-46 win over Regina’s Sheldon Williams Spartans.
“Our early transition offense and forced turnovers helped us build a large lead by halftime. We made some timely three-point shots to stop any potential Spartans runs,” said coach Adam Jackson.
Connor Letkeman scored 14 points, followed by 12 from Thomson.
The team will return to action on Jan. 29-31 at the Rochdale Invitational Tournament in Regina.
