Legionnaires open 2026 with two road wins

Swift Current Home Hardware U18 AAA Legionnaires

The Swift Current Home Hardware Legionnaires returned to Saskatchewan Male AAA Hockey League action with two wins in Prince Albert over the weekend.

The Legionnaires opened the weekend with a 5-2 win over the Prince Albert Mintos on Saturday when they fired 47 shots on goal.

Kohen Ruedig, Kyler Bilokreli, Mason Fauser, Rory Dewar, and Porter Nickason all scored. Trae Peterson registered two assists, while Kasey Gleim, Jaxson Squires, and Ryder Wilm all added singles.

Cade Mitchell earned the win with 26 saves. Wyatt Nelson took the loss with 33 saves on 38 shots over 46:05. Cohen Kuntz stopped all nine shots he faced in 13:55 of work.

Barrett Berger and Maxim Cooper scored for the Mintos.

Sunday, Peterson scored the only goal in the shootout to lift the Legionnaires to a 6-5 win over the Mintos.  Peterson also had two goals and one assist during regulation. Jake Hargave added three assists.

Bilokreli and Fauser both added a goal and an assist, while Hunter Wilm also scored. Gleim and Squires also added assists. Josh Benjamin earned the win with 26 saves over 65 minutes.

The Legionnaires remain third in the league with a 19-7-3-0 record. Price Albert fell to 11-13-3-1.

The Legionnaires will visit the Moose Jaw Warriors on Wednesday.
