The Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats won the special teams battle in a weekend sweep of the host Prince Albert Northern Bears.
Saturday, the Wildcats scored four power play goals in a 6-2 win over the Northern Bears. Jalaa Moore Jagow led the way with two goals and two assists. Laynee Rondeau followed with three assists.
Ella Schenher scored twice, while Stevie Christiaens and Reese Kampen added a goal and an assist each. Sienna Watson and Rowyn Baptist added single helpers. Emilee Klapak made 17 saves in the win.
Avery Brunen took the loss with 29 saves on 35 shots. Reyn Siklenka and Olivia Trann scored for the home team.
Sunday, the Wildcats scored twice on the power play and killed off all five shorthanded situations in a 5-2 win. Ashley Vezeau made 27 saves in the win.
Schenher and Raela Packet led the Wildcats with a goal and an assist each, while Moore Jagow registered two assists. Emily McCleary, Kapri Darby, and Rondeau also scored. Iralyn Calkins and Charlize Hillmer added assists.
Maggie Schell took the loss with 25 saves. Jersie Andersen and Kasey Marshall scored in a losing cause.
The Wildcats sit third in the Saskatchewan Female U18 AAA Hockey League with a 9-4-0-0 record after their seventh straight league win. Prince Albert dropped to 3-7-1-3.
The Wildcats and Bears will rematch in Swift Current on Saturday at 7:45 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
