The Swift Current Broncos made a blockbuster trade on Thursday, sending defenseman Peyton Kettles to the Kelowna Rockets for one player and five draft picks.
The Broncos receive 2007 defenseman Jackson Gillespie and five picks, including a first round pick in 2027. They also receive two second-round picks and a pair of fourth-round picks.
Kettles has one goal and one assist in two games this season. He was the sixth pick in the 2022 WHL Prospects Draft. The 6’5’’ blueliner had 29 points in 118 regular season games with the Broncos. He also had four assists in 13 playoff games. Kettles was the 39th pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 2025 NHL Draft.
Gillespie has one assist in six games in his third season with the Rockets in the Western Hockey League.
