The Swift Current Broncos announced a small profit of $5,011 at their Annual General Meeting on Sept. 23.
The Broncos had posted a profit of $155,302 the previous season.
The Broncos regular season attendance grew for a third straight season to 2,307 from 2,170 the previous season.
“It was another great season for the Broncos,” Kevin Simpson, Executive Vice President of Business Operations. “I think our staff worked really hard. We basically had a break-even season, posted a small profit, which was great. We’ve got a great, hard-working staff that did a lot of great things this year. Chad [Leslie] did a wonderful job putting a great product on, getting back to the playoffs two years in a row is huge for us. We are excited about it. We are excited about this new young team playing this year and getting off to a good start. I think we were almost sold out for opening night there which is exciting to see. I think the fans are excited to see all these young guys. I think having four local boys in the line-up will be big for us and fans are excited to see what these guys can do this season.”
“It was very positive,” added General Manager Chad Leslie. “I think any time you can turn a profit and be viable in the smallest market in the CHL I think it’s a testament to what Kevin and Dominic on the business side have done here. We are fortunate to have those guys, they’ve done an amazing job, so it’s very positive.”
The Broncos had 2,603 fans at the home opener last week, a 4-3 win over the Regina Pats. They will host the Medicine Hat Tigers on Friday.
