U18 AAA Wildcats win twice at preseason tournament

The host Swift Current Innovation Federal Credit Union Wildcats won two of three games at their annual preseason tournament.

Friday, the Wildcats outshot the Pilot Mound Buffalos 47-5 in a 6-0 win. Sienna Watson led the Wildcats with two goals and one assist, followed by Raela Packet with one goal and two assists. Ashley Vezeau earned the shutout with five saves.

Reese Kampen, Stevie Christiaens, and Ella Schener also scored.

Charlize Hillmer added two assists, followed by singles from Madden Rublee, Paige Hawkins, and Ellie Weinbender.

Saturday, the Wildcats lost 2-1 to the Medicine Hat College Rattlers. Packet scored with an assist from Charli Chubaty. Karli Duncan made 16 saves on 18 shots.

Sunday, the Wildcats earned a 2-1 win over the Regina Rebels. Vezeau earned the win with 23 saves.

Packet and Schener scored power play goals as the Wildcats won the special teams battle. Hillmer assisted on both goals, while Rublee added a single helper.

The Wildcats will have their first taste of league action on Sept. 27 when they visit the Weyburn Gold Wings.
