Swift Current’s Griffin Striker scored for Saskatchewan in his final match at the Canada Summer Games in St. John’s.
Striker scored Saskatchewan’s fourth goal in the 30th minute of a 5-1 win over Manitoba on Friday to place 10th in men’s soccer.
Saskatchewan had defeated Yukon 3-0 on Thursday after losing their opening matches to Ontario and British Columbia.
Saskatchewan’s men’s baseball team lost the semi-final 9-4 to Quebec on Friday. They will play for bronze on Saturday.
Swift Current’s Mason Fauser has helped Saskatchewan to a 3-3 record so far. He has two singles, one walk, two runs scored, and one run batted in in three games played. He also got the win over Quebec on Wednesday when he induced a double play in the top of the eighth inning before Saskatchewan scored twice for a walk-off win.
Four Special Olympics Swimming athletes wrapped up their Games in the pool on Thursday.
Swift Current’s Tate Zimmerman finished 16th overall in the 50 Metre Freestyle in 49.40 seconds. Gull Lake’s Chayce Foster was 16th in 53.20 seconds in the 50 Metre Freestyle as well.
Swift Current’s Rahimay Priebe placed 12th in the Women’s 50 Metre Freestyle in 46.48 seconds. Swift Current’s Avery Underhill was 15th in 55.11 seconds as well.
