Mapes powers 57’s to Canada Day win

The Swift Current 57’s snapped a six-game losing streak with a 13-2 win over the host Moose Jaw Miller Express on Canada Day.

Adam Korte earned the win as he held the Miller Express to five hits, three walks, and two runs over five innings. Chase Cummins, Ethan Bailey, and Nkosi Didder all made scoreless relief appearances to close out the win.

The 57’s hit four home runs in the win as they scored runs in five different innings, including four runs in the third and seventh innings. Shortstop Trigg Mapes had four hits, including a pair of three-run home runs. Jose Ayala had four singles and four RBIs. Wilmer Enriquez hit his seventh home run of the season. Gus Koehn also had a home run and a single. Second baseman Rydell Adair singled twice and scored twice.

The 57’s improved to 6-21, while the Miller Express fell to 12-15. The 57’s will host a double header against the Regina Red Sox on Wednesday, beginning at 6:05 p.m. They will also host the Okotoks Dawgs on Thursday and Friday.
